I’m Kelsie, owner and 4th generation baker behind Moonstone Baking Company. I began Moonstone in 2017 with the idea of sharing my favorite childhood breakfast treat- the kolache.

A lifelong connection to expressing love through cooking prompted me to begin research into my family ties to the humble kolache. I uncovered a rich history, as both my great-grandmother and grandfather were of Bohemian descent, both moving to Texas at a young age in the early 1900’s. My great-grandfather made a career out of baking, serving patrons at the Ben Milam Hotel in Houston, TX. My great-grandmother was known for selling Czech style baked goods to local neighbors, all the while raising a family and working as a dressmaker.

I am extremely proud to continue the tradition of handcrafting baked goods with high quality, locally sourced ingredients. I hope to share with you all soon.

Moonstone has grown into a successful farmers market booth, and currently offers fresh kolaches and baked goods at the Texas Farmers Market at Mueller in Austin, TX.
